The University of Georgia Chemistry DepartmentThe University of Georgia has a Department of Chemistry that is divided into three units. In Chemistry there are three classes per semester. The classes are Chemical, Biochemistry and Integrative.Chemistry is the science that deals with the study of matter, energy and reactions. It is also one of the disciplines that studies how to create and manipulate matter. The human body, earth, air, water, and other things that surround us have elemental substances. They include solid, liquid, and gas.Our bodies and earth have different kinds of gases, liquids, and solids. We have gases which are liquid, such as oxygen, nitrogen, and water, and solids, such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and other forms of carbon. The types of gases that are liquid include helium, neon, and xenon, and the solids include water, ice, and many others.Life is made up of molecules that contain carbon and hydrogen atoms. Molecules are different from atoms in that atoms do n ot act alone but rather they form compounds, which are groups of atoms and molecules that are joined together by their electrons in a way that allows them to move around freely.Chemistry deals with the study of chemical properties because it helps determine the properties of a substance based on the structure, chemical bonding, and their atoms, which are known as quarks. Quarks are also atoms with the same number of electrons as their nucleus. A chemical property refers to something that is present in the substance in which the atoms are bound together, or that something that can be measured directly through a process such as spectroscopy.It has been found that the gases, as well as the oceans, and the soil are absorbing our atmosphere in a process known as global warming. Chemists have discovered the secrets to make new materials that would contain less carbon dioxide, an element that leads to global warming.There are people that decide to study chemistry in the University of Georg ia to advance their career and their skills. There are some jobs available as well, and there are degrees that are offered, and these people should take advantage of these opportunities to obtain their college education.
